When Brian Keith Voiles subcontracted us to write this newsletter offer, we worked with the newsletter's publisher - Scott Britton - to build an offer from scratch. (The newsletter teaches you how to invest in real estate.) In an attempt to generate new subscribers, Britton had been giving away a "free issue". But most of the folks who subscribed were people who knew him personally. So here's the approach we took:

We open the letter by offering a hot bonus - free - when you subscribe. (A proven way to sell newsletters, by the way.) Britton didn't realize that he already had a hot bonus. But he did.

At a 1998 real estate convention, he'd tape-recorded one of his lectures. But he'd done little to market the recording. So we came up with a grabber name for it: "Real Estate Secrets The 'Experts' Don't Want You To Know About".
